The Path tool is used to perform movements with airplanes, helicopters, vehicles, and vehicle-airplane or vehicle-vehicle combinations. Depending on the CAD platform, the tool can be started from the AviPLAN Airside Pro ribbon, toolbar, or menu.

After selecting and placing the object in the drawing, you can move it forward or backwards to a new position by moving a point on the object known as the construction point. Several construction points are available depending on the object type (for example. the cockpit of an airplane). In the drawing, the construction point is represented by the pointer.

Path construction can carried out with or without using existing drawing entities (lines/arcs etc.). Each step in the path building process that is confirmed with a click in the drawing is called a segment, and together all segments form a path.

It is possible to adjust the speed, turn type, construction point and, under certain conditions, drive mode segment by segment. It is also possible to Edit, Copy, or Move sessions afterwards.

During the path design process, a ghosted preview of the object is visible together with other elements that have been activated in the Session Manager tool such as the nose gear path, jet blast, and wing clearance.

If desired, the movement of the object along the path can be animated.

The simulation is saved as a Path session.

Note: Many of the AviPLAN Airside Pro default values can be set to user-defined default values (see Program Defaults).
