Note: Creating new vehicles is only possible if you have the Standard or higher access level (see Program Settings -> Permissions Category: Access Levels).

To Create a New Vehicle From a Standard or Custom Vehicle:

    1. On the ribbon, click Vehicles. The Select Current Vehicle dialog box displays.
    2. In the Filters box, select the desired vehicle sorting method and filter list.
    3. In the vehicle list, click the vehicle on which the new vehicle will be based. The dialog box updates to display the selected vehicle.
    4. Click Create New Vehicle. The Create New Vehicle dialog box displays.
    5. Ensure that in the Displayed Data section, Plan/Profile View Data is selected.
    6. In the Creation Units list, click the desired units for the new vehicle.
    7. Under General Data:
      • In the Name box, type a name for the new vehicle.
      • In the Library box, enter the desired name for the vehicle library.
      • In the Region and Country boxes, enter the desired vehicle region and country respectively.
      • In the Profile Type list, click the desired vehicle profile type.
        • If you have a profile drawing that encompasses all parts of the vehicle, click Vehicle.
        • If you want to select individual part profiles for each part, click Parts.
        • If you do not want to assign a profile drawing to the vehicle, click None.
      • If you chose Vehicle in the previous step, in the Vehicle Profile list, click the desired vehicle profile.
      • In the Class box, enter the desired name for the vehicle class.
      • In the Lock to Lock Time and Steering Lock Angle (see Calculate Steering Lock) boxes, type the new vehicle's desired lock to lock time and steering lock angle respectively.
    8. Under Current Part Data:
      • If you chose Parts in step 7.d, in the Part Profile list, click the desired part profile.
      • In the Tractor/Trailer list, click the desired type of tractor/trailer.
      • In the Steering list, click the desired type of steering.
        Note:
        • To enable steering linkages for a single part vehicle, select the Front and Rear steering configuration (see Steering Linkages).
        • The tractor cannot have rear steering; only the last trailer's rear axles can be configured as rear steerable, and all axles in the rear group must be steerable for steering linkages to be enabled in a multi-part vehicle (see Steering Linkages).
      • To check steering components, click Articulate.
      • In the Width box, type the desired width of the vehicle/part.
      • To configure the corners of the vehicle/part, click Corners.
      • Under Front/Rear Axle Group, in the Axles list, click the desired number of axles. In the Track box, type the desired distance between the outside edges of the outermost tires on the left and right sides. To configure axle group details, click Front/Rear Axle Group Details, and then modify the axle group parameters as desired.
      • Change any dimensions of the vehicle/part.
      • If the vehicle has more than a single part, navigate to each part in turn to change each part's dimensions and articulating angle.
Note: In the case of multi-part vehicles, the entire vehicle or each vehicle part can be displayed by clicking  / (Zoom In / Zoom Out). Each vehicle part can be navigated to by clicking  / (Next Part / Previous Part).
    9. In the Displayed Data section, click to select Roofline View Data, and, under Current Part Data, specify the roofline/outline, height, connector heights, ground clearances, and chamfers of the vehicle/part (see Edit Vehicle Details - Roofline View).
    10. To add a part to the vehicle, click Add New Part, and then configure the part's details as described in steps 8 and 9.
    11. To edit the vehicle information, loads, cargo details, and sight lines, click the respective buttons.
    12. Click OK to return to the Select Current Vehicle dialog box. The new custom vehicle is now the current vehicle. Custom vehicles display with a Custom graphic in the leftmost column of the vehicle list.

Note: An equivalent or higher access level than that used to create a custom vehicle is required to edit or delete that custom vehicle (see Program Settings -> Permissions Category: Access Levels). The access level of a custom vehicle is displayed in the upper right corner of the preview area in the Select Current Vehicle dialog box.
