Stand is used to generate detailed designs of airplane parking stands at the gate or a remote position. This may include the operation of one or more passenger boarding bridges as well as fixed installations such as fuel pits and electrical power (400 Hz). The tool can be used to design a new stand or optimize/modify an existing stand. Depending on CAD platform, the command can be started from the AviPLAN Airside Pro ribbon, toolbar or menu.

An extensive library of  two tunnel and three tunnel apron drive bridges is available. A select number of bridges are able to connect to the upper deck of airplanes such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing B747-8. Characteristics of a bridge can be modified while working in the Stand command to exactly reflect local conditions. If desired, such modifications can be stored as user-defined bridges using the Bridge Editor.

In the design process, all relevant aspects are taken into consideration such as the terrain and/or pavement slope, height of the bridge rotunda floor, location of the lead-in line, fuel pits and more. Parameters that have an impact on the positioning of airplanes can be defined. These are, amongst others:

Multiple airplanes can be selected to be placed on the lead-in line(s). A number of airplane positioning options offer the user the choice whether to leave the positioning partly or completely to the software or have full (manual) control.

Airplane positioning on stop lines along the lead-in line together with bridge to airplane docking is visualized in the drawing. Other elements such as a clearance box can be activated in the Session Manager dialog. Calculation results are displayed in the Stand Results dialog.

The stand design is saved as a Stand session.

Note: Many of the AviPLAN Airside Pro default values can be set to user-defined default values. See Program Defaults.
