Generates Vehicle Envelopes Design Method, Regional Design Method, and Adaptive roundabouts from shipped and user created templates.

Note:

• The Units setting in Program Settings' General Category must be set to meters in order to place templates that were created using the Australian Vehicle Envelopes Design Guidelines.
• Save roundabout templates for all design method roundabouts (does not include Adaptive) in the Generate Roundabout and Edit Roundabout dialog boxes.

This tool requires the presence of user-drawn lines and/or arcs to become reference geometry for the roundabout design. Using the line and/or arc tools in AutoCAD or MicroStation, draw the reference geometry that represents the roundabout’s approach leg centerlines.

• The reference line length defines the maximum limits of the corresponding splitter island envelope.

• The reference line defines the separation of the traffic flow directions and normally aligns parallel with the straight section of the median closest to the center of the roundabout.

Roundabout Type Section

Select the type of roundabout to generate:

• Vehicle Envelopes Design Method

• Regional Design Method

• Adaptive Roundabout

 General Configuration Section

Legs

Select the desired number of legs for the roundabout.

Click the Next button to advance to the next step in the wizard.

Roundabout Wizard: Select Legs Dialog Box

In the drawing, pick reference elements until the desired number of legs have been added to the roundabout and then click Next.

Click the Next button to advance to the next step in the wizard.

Roundabout Wizard: Roundabout Template Dialog Box

Select the desired template to base the roundabout on.

Note: Click Template Details to get information on a selected template (see Template Details Dialog Box).

Click the Next button to advance to the next step in the wizard.

Roundabout Wizard: Orientation

Design Guideline Section

Select the desired design guideline in the list.

Roundabout Orientation

Click the Rotate Clockwise or Rotate Counter-Clockwise buttons to orient the roundabout as desired.

Click the Finish button to complete the last step in the wizard.

Adaptive Roundabout

Roundabout Wizard: Type Dialog Box

Select Adaptive Roundabout under Roundabout Type.

Select the number of legs as desired and then click Next.

Roundabout Wizard: Select Adaptive Template Dialog Box

Select the desired template to base the roundabout on.

Click the Next button to advance to the next step in the wizard.

Pick a point in the drawing to place the roundabout.

Set the orientation angle by moving the mouse pointer and then clicking a point in the drawing when the desired angle is reached.

Edit the roundabout using the Edit Roundabout - Adaptive dialog box.
