GuideSIGN Plus is intended to be used as a tool for automating the process of creating and editing highway signs and for automating the process of creating and placing sign assemblies in traffic signing plan drawings in the AutoCAD/BricsCAD and MicroStation CAD environments.

The user is responsible for applying engineering judgment in using and interpreting program results. Familiarity with the software is therefore important to ensure that the results produced by the software are applied appropriately.

    Use of Existing Signs

GuideSIGN Plus leverages the user's catalogue of signs created with the sign creation features in GuideSIGN and other CAD-drawn methods by providing a means to insert them into sign assemblies via a graphical interface. The user must create AutoCAD block libraries or MicroStation cell files of the signs they wish to use in the software. Further, these files must be placed in folders that are accessible to GuideSIGN Plus users (for more information, see Appendix -> Creating User-Defined Sign Libraries).

GuideSIGN Plus assumes that all user-defined and GuideSIGN signs inserted into the sign assemblies were drawn using the current Sign Assembly Creation units setting as specified in Program Settings' General - Plan Category dialog box. The user is responsible for ensuring that these types of signs are inserted at the desired sizes.
