A bridge adaptor is a mobile unit for bridging the gap between small aircraft and a conventional passenger boarding bridge. This type of adaptor provides an economical solution for bridging the fixed bridge and the airplane, fitting neatly inside both the fixed bridge and the airplane door. They are often compatible with regional size jets and similar sized aircraft.
In AviPLAN Airside Pro , it is possible to define this type of adaptor for each specific airplane in the Airplane Parking table, under the Dock Bridge drop-down menu (e.g. Dock Bridge1). It is also possible to offset the center of the aircraft door in relation to the center of the passenger boarding bridge cabin, without an adaptor being used.

- Add adaptor: A bridge adaptor is an extension platform in the bridge closure for connection to (small) commuter airplanes where the door is not opening sideward but downwards. A number of parameters for this type of connection can be set. See detailed description under Add adaptor, below.
- Add offset: Perform the connection of the bridge to the door not exactly as per the Cabin center alignment as set under the Bridge tab but with a certain offset. See detailed description under Bridge offset and adaptor

Add adaptor
By selecting this option it is possible to determine the characteristics of the bridge adaptor being used. Parameters include:
- Distance from closure edge to door sill: This is the distance between the edge of the passenger boarding bridge cabin closure and the aircraft's door sill.
- Projected distance below door sill: This is the distance between the aircraft door sill and the projected continuation of the passenger boarding bridge cabin floor.
- Offset from cabin center: This is a +/- value to determine whether the bridge adaptor is positioned to the left(+) or right(-) of the center of the passenger boarding bridge cabin.
These two values are shown below:

Add offset
By selecting this option it is possible to offset the center of the aircraft door in relation to the center of the passenger boarding bridge cabin. Parameters include:
- Distance below door sill: Enter the distance the bridge cabin floor is below the airplane door to which it connects. By entering a value here, the global default (set in the Bridge tab) will be overridden.
- Offset from door center: This is a +/- value to determine whether the passenger boarding bridge cabin is positioned to the left(+) or right(-) of the center of the aircraft door center.
