The Group Lead-in tool is used to analyze the movement of a group of airplanes while entering a parking position (stand). Depending on the CAD platform, the tool can be started from the AviPLAN Airside Pro 2024 ribbon, toolbar, or menu.
After selecting the airplanes, select a point on a taxiway or taxilane centerline to begin the lead-in maneuver, move the pointer to select the direction of travel, and then click to confirm. Selecting a point on a diverging line will construct an oversteer turn, all airplanes will be aligned with that line, and an airplane cloud depicting the first point of alignment for each airplane will display. Before ending the segment, move the pointer along the targeted line, and a red highlight marking and airplane cloud will be visible while in this state. Before the segment end point has been set by a click, it is still possible to edit the steering limit for the current segment, and the results of changing the steering limit will be immediately visible in the drawing. Move the pointer to the desired stopping position and click to end the segment/path.
Where a stand session exists on a lead-in line, after placing the airplanes at the start point, target the stand session. If the airplane group matches that of the stand session, all airplanes will be parked on their respective stop bar. Airplanes that are not part of the targeted stand session will be placed on the farthest stop bar.
Note: The Group Lead-in tool always uses nose gear construction point.
Where immediately before the lead-in line, the taxiway or taxilane centerline is curved, follow can be used for the first segment of the path. This will ensure a more accurate wingtip path and effective nose gear angle usage.
The follow segment of a group lead-in path may be created by following existing drawing entities in the form of lines/polylines, arcs, etc.
Elements such as main gear swept surface, wingtip clearance, and nose gear marking may be activated in the Session Manager (during construction), or the Drawing Manager.
The simulation is saved as a Group Lead-in session.
Note: A number& of the AviPLAN Airside Pro 2024 default values can be set to user-defined default values (see Program Defaults).
