Properties' Envelopes (2D Simulations) Category Dialog Box

    Draw Envelopes On Section

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Set the layer/level that envelopes will be drawn on in the following ways:

    Set Individual Element Layers/Levels

Click this button to set all individual elements in this category to use the selected layer/level.

Note: If you selected the Use these settings for all 2D elements checkbox in the General (2D Simulations) Category, this section will be unavailable.

    Envelopes Draw Options Section

Set which envelopes to draw in the turn simulations as well as the maximum width dimension, and clearance distances where applicable. Click Properties to set the layer/level, color, line style, and transparency for the elements that are selected to be drawn.

    Front Tires

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with envelopes that trace the outside edges of the tires in the front most axle group of the vehicle. If there is more than one axle in the front axle group, envelopes will be drawn for the first and last axle in the group.

    Example of front tires envelopes

    Rear Tires

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with envelopes that trace the outside edges of the vehicle’s rear most axle group.

The envelopes generated depend upon the composition of the rear axle group:

    Example of rear tires envelopes

    Vehicle Body

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with a vehicle body or swept path envelope. The swept path envelope is the widest path swept out by the sides and overhangs of the vehicle

    Example of vehicle body envelope

    Loads

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with a swept path envelope of the load shape specified in Vehicles -> Define Loads. The swept path load envelope is the widest path swept out by the extents of the load shape.

    Example of load envelopes

    Clearances

Select these checkboxes and specify clearance distances to have the simulation drawn with envelopes generated at the distances offset from where they would normally be drawn.

Example of vehicle body clearance envelopes trimmed at front and rear

    Maximum Width

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with a symbol consisting of a circle on each envelope and a dimension between them at the widest point of the simulation for the selected envelope combinations.

Example of vehicle body envelope with maximum width option

    Tracking Points

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with tracking point envelopes. A tracking point envelope is drawn for each tracking point created in Vehicles -> Tracking Points.

    Overall Maximum Width

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Select this checkbox to have the simulation drawn with a symbol consisting of a circle on each envelope and a dimension between them at the overall widest point of the simulation for all of the selected envelopes.

Example of multiple envelopes with overall maximum width option

    Bicycle Offsets

Specify the color and line style that the bicycle offsets specified while generating turn simulation sections with SmartPath Tools and bicycle vehicles will be drawn.

    Combined Body and/or Tires

Select this checkbox to have the selected tires envelope(s) (one or both Front and Rear) and Vehicle Body envelope combined into one consolidated envelope.

    Reset Properties

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Click this button to reset the properties in all category pages to the currently loaded property set file.

    Save Properties

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Click this button to save the current properties to a file. When you click this button, the Save Properties dialog box displays. In the Name box, type the desired name for the property set file, and then click OK.

    Load Properties

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Click this button to load a previously saved property set file. When you click this button, the Load Properties dialog box displays. Select the desired property set file in the list, and then click OK.

    Extract Properties

Note: This functionality is only available in AutoTURN and AutoTURN Pro.

Click this button, and then select an existing turn simulation to replace the current properties with the properties from the selected simulation.

Note: Selecting a 2D simulation will replace the 2D properties only. Selecting a 3D simulation will replace the 3D properties only.

    Update

Click this button, and then pick an existing turn simulation in the drawing to update the turn simulation to the currently displayed properties . This is useful for making changes to existing turn simulations without having to regenerate or place them again.
