Select Current Panel Style
Tools > Panel Styles > Select Current Panel Style

Selects the panel to be used when a new panel is created with the Place New Panel tool. Also allows you to create, view/edit, rename, and delete a panel style.

A panel style, one of the most important and useful features of the software, is a set of parameters that specify such characteristics of a sign as the sign's shape, color, border radius and thickness as well as the heights and fonts (letter series) of different types of text (place names and cardinal directions). The styles supplied with the software represent a selection of sign and exit panel styles derived from the M.U.T.C.D. sign standards. Sizes for arrows and route shields and the spacing between lines of text and between text and symbols are also specified as part of a panel style.

Shipping Panel Styles vs. Custom Panel Styles

You can create new panel styles based on the existing ones (see Create New Panel Style). User created panel styles can be edited, renamed, or deleted. Therefore, if you select a user created panel style in the Panel Style list, the View button will be replaced with the Edit button, and the Rename and Delete buttons will be available.

Note: User created panel styles display with the   custom graphic in the Panel Style list.

Panel Style Type

Set the panel style type to one of the following:

Style Type Use for creating...
Signs Sign panels
Exit Panels Exit Number Panels
Exit Only Panels
Left Exit Panels

Hint: Use Exit Panels only to modify or create exit panel styles. It is not necessary to set the current panel style to an exit panel style before placing an exit panel. The Place Exit Panel tool automatically sets the appropriate panel style. See Place Exit Panel for information on creating new exit panels and modifying the existing ones.

Edition is the 1988 one, the M.U.T.C.D. 2003 Edition panel styles will not display under Panel Styles). For information on how to specify the units and M.U.T.C.D.
