Storing Custom Libraries
You are recommended to store custom libraries in appropriate folders located in the Contents User folder (see Saving User Created Content).
Note: For the purpose of consistency, a library should contain objects created using the same units and M.U.T.C.D. Edition of the panel style.
AutoCAD/BricsCAD
Object libraries are AutoCAD/BricsCAD drawing files with the .dwg extension containing only block definitions and no visible entities.
To Add an Object to an AutoCAD/BricsCAD Library:
- Create a new object in a new drawing file with the origin at 0,0.
- Save the file under the desired new object name.
- Open the library file to which you want to add the object created in step 1.
- Type 'Insert'. The Insert dialog box displays.
- In the Name box, type the name of the object you created in step 1, or indicate it using the Browse button to the right.
- Select the Specify On-screen check box, and then click OK.
- Press ESC to have the object added to the drawing block table without placing an insert element.
- Save the library file.
MicroStation
Object libraries are MicroStation cell libraries that are modified using MicroStation’s cell library functions.
To Add an Object to a MicroStation Library
- Make sure you are using correct working units (see MicroStation Working Units).
- Draw a new object in a new design file.
- Open the cell library.
- Add the new object to the cell library.
- On the File menu, click Compress to compress the cell library.
Upgrading to MicroStation Version 8
Custom content cells must be upgraded to Version 8 cells to be used by GuideSIGN Plus operating in the Version 8 environment. The extension for Version 8 cells is .cel as of GuideSIGN 4.4.
