    Start Stand Setup

When the Stand command is first launched, the Stand Setup tab is in the Start Stand Setup mode. When in this mode, parameters can be defined for commencing stand design.

    Terrain

The top row in the Start Stand Setup tab controls the drawing X,Y plane or terrain on which the Stand session is to be placed.

    Stand reference system

The second section in the Start Stand Setup tab controls the Stand reference system - a local X,Y coordinate system within which the positions and distances at the gate can be measured.

If the session has been placed on the drawing X,Y plane (i.e. a terrain object is not in use), the stand reference system also contains an arrow to specify the apron slope direction. It is critical that the stand reference system is placed at a position from which there is one uniform slope to the pavement area where airplanes are parked.

    Stand Setup

After inserting the stand reference system in the drawing, Start Stand Setup becomes the Stand Setup tab. The Stand Reference is a local x-y coordinate system in which the positions and distances at the gate will be measured and it also contains an arrow that is used to specify the Apron slope direction and grade. It is therefore important to place this Stand Reference at a position from which there is one uniform slope to the pavement area where airplanes are being parked.

    Stand type

When Contact stand (with bridge) is selected, the Bridge tab is active. For non-contact (remote) stands, this box should be cleared.

    Apron slope

Note: This is only applicable if a terrain model is not in use.

    Grade

Set the percentage for the upward or downward apron slope of the apron by typing the value in the assigned field. Example: Type D0.5 and a downward slope of 0.5% is set. Move the cursor out of the field to continue.

Note: The  icon highlights the fact that this is a critical parameter which should be reviewed.

    Direction

First set first the apron slope direction, measured from the reference location. Click the Drag button to define the direction (angle) of the slope in the drawing or type the value in the assigned field (A).
