    Introduction

GuideSIGN Markings sets up a drawing environment which we believe is the easiest way for the required output drawings to be obtained with the minimum of effort from the user.

    Template or Seed

By default, GuideSIGN Markings will start a new drawing from a template Stripe.dwt or Keysoft.dgn. In AutoCAD, the use of a template is not necessary and GuideSIGN Markings should be able to create markings in any drawing or user template that is used. In Microstation, it is recommended that you start from the seed file Keysoft.dgn has this has the settings to ensure correct operation.

    Layer or Level Names

A significant part of the functionality in GuideSIGN Markings , is the ability for users to specify every layer/level name that is used or created by GuideSIGN Markings . This may just be the addition of a prefix or a completely different name. The GuideSIGN Markings settings also let the user specify the layer color, which is particularly useful with the layers for yellow lines and markings.

    Note

The setting will only affect new layers, ones already within a drawing will be maintained as the currently exist.

    Standard Layers/Levels

The Template/Seed drawing doesn’t necessarily include any of the standard layers/levels. These will be created by AutoSTRIPE as required, using the settings mentioned above. Some of the standard default names are listed below, so that they can be identified inside your drawings.

KEY_LINES for most of the road marking information
KEY_LINES_YEL for markings that are colored yellow
KEY_SIGNS for sign symbols and bollards
    Etc.

The use of the KEY_ prefix is a program setting that can be turned off giving default names of LINES, LINES_YEL, TRO, CALM, SIGNS, etc. There are also program options called styles where you can change and configure the level/layer names completely.

You can still create or use any layer or level for other items you are drawing in your work, using the standard CAD functions.
