    3D Objects and Furniture

A range of 3D objects such as a tree, planters, traffic signals, vehicles, etc. are defined to enhance the appearance of your drawings in the Driver's Eye View. These will show a symbolic representation in the normal plan view.

    Building Line

This routine will take any number of 2D polylines and use them to create simplistic 3D building frontages for greater effect in the Driver's Eye View. The lines chosen could be OS or Mapping building lines, or may have come from a highway design alignment.

Supplying an approximate height will be all that is required to give tremendous added substance to the drawing, albeit that the building appearance may be dissimilar to the real thing. The transformed lines are made into blocks, so that the line and all windows can be removed as one entity. The name of the block will be bline*, where * is the lowest unused number available.

The original lines chosen (or, to be strictly accurate, copies of them) are left for further use.

The building lines created will not normally be visible until you go into the Driver's Eye View.

    3D Kerb/Curb Line

This routine will take any number of 2D polylines (or a whole layer) and use them to create a 3D curbline for better effect in the Driver's Eye View, by applying a thickness to the lines. The lines chosen could be OS or Mapping building lines, or may have come from a highway design alignment.

The original lines chosen (or, to be strictly accurate, copies of them) are left for further use.

The 3D kerb lines created will not normally be visible until you go into the Driver's Eye View.

    Note

Some symbols such as zebra beacons, traffic signals, bollards, humps & cushions are drawn in a 3D view as well as the 2D plan view representation. The use of DEV will switch to the 3D representation of these items.
