There are a number of other buttons under the Program + Options menu that help control, change or reset the program behaviour.
This option is mainly useful if the program has started to function in correctly, the button should reload and restart the engine behind the GuideSIGN Markings system. In the past this has helped user swap profiles and then use this button to kick start the program back into operation, unfortunately this facility will no longer function with the new engine in AutoSTRIPE 7.
This option will be mainly used by those users experiencing a problem with the currently loaded menu. This is usually seen when the images on the toolbar icons disappear or become smiley faces or question clouds. Use of this command with reset the GuideSIGN Markings pull down menus and the GuideSIGN Markings toolbar icons. Users should answer Yes to the question “do you want to overwrite…” as this will then replace the existing displayed menu.
The AutoCAD CUI interface allows for menus to be altered and customised, so it is very easy to alter things by mistake and make the menus unusable. This command will restore the GuideSIGN Markings menus back to the standard default menu that was used straight after installation. This is done by replacing the CUI file with a backup copy of the default menu file ‘AutoSTRIPE.CUI.BAK’.
This item will cause a return to some of the original variable settings should they become changed. Linetype is set ByLayer (see AutoCAD manual), the default width of polylines set to zero, and AutoCAD variables Aperture and Pickbox are reset (see AutoCAD manual for details).
In addition, the specification of angles within the drawing is returned to its GuideSIGN Markings default.
The standard AutoCAD default for angle specification is to have 0 degrees at the right of the screen, and increase angles anti-clockwise. AutoSTRIPE uses the more natural (for mapping) 0 degrees at the top of the screen with increasing angles in a clockwise direction.
Reset caters for users accidentally altering the settings, or for working on an imported drawing from another user, who has altered the standard AutoCAD settings.
The file RESET.LSP is provided unprotected in order that users can include in it any preferences that they feel necessary. Simply add to the latter end of the file using a text editor at the position shown.
