Drawing Import (e.g., From a Signal Design)
    In This Topic

Previously, it was recommended that incoming drawings should be inserted into GuideSIGN Markings. This procedure is detailed below in order that it can still be used if any problems are encountered.

It should now be possible to perform all GuideSIGN Markings commands on drawings received from other sources without taking any special measures i.e. it should be possible to OPEN the drawing and start work. However, this does not guarantee that such things as colors for the various layers used will be as the GuideSIGN Markings template.

If you wish to carry drawings from one Keysoft Solutions application to another (e.g. KeySIGNALS drawing SIGNALS_EX.DWG to AutoSTRIPE) the following method should ensure correct operation:

    1. Start a new drawing (e.g. XYZ) in GuideSIGN Markings.
    2. Insert SIGNALS_EX into this drawing with scale factors 1 and zero rotation (you may need to quote the path to find the KeySIGNALS drawing e.g. \SigsDWGS\Signals_ex). It is recommended that you put the tick on ‘explode’ so that an extra block isn’t created when doing this insert.

You can now use GuideSIGN Markings to add markings to the drawing, as normal.

If you are adding a complex or large drawing such as an O.S. sheet, which won’t need to be modified, consider using the XREF command. This will ensure the final drawing is much smaller than if the INSERT command is used. With ever changing base plans the xref method can be very useful way of keeping up to date with the latest base.
