GuideSIGN Markings works on top of AutoCAD or Microstation to provide a tailored solution for creating road marking drawings. It provides additional commands and icons in addition to all the normal CAD operations, which are still available. It comprises many items in the form of automatic routines, libraries of symbols, utility tools, etc.
The more users know about the AutoCAD or Microstation foundation for GuideSIGN Markings, the quicker they will be able to also use GuideSIGN Markings, and the more options they will know for each drawing operation. However, it should be noted that GuideSIGN Markings can still be effectively used with very little CAD experience.

Some general CAD methods and settings are relevant to the use of CAD by GuideSIGN Markings, and these are discussed in the following sections.
